5 things I love about the djembe drum
Jun 6, 2010 Percussion
Some of you have not heard the djembe drum is a percussion instrument played with the hands. It’s basically a hand drum. . . but not just any hand drum, a djembe (!) This is the coolest hand drum around, in my opinion, and I’d like to share this article on why I love him so much. 1. Wherever there is a djembe is a party (!) Before we had students who have lived and worked with us in Scotland. There were about six guitar players, I’m the best keyboards, some excellent singers, and a guy who had a djembe. The djembe is so cool, “added the pace and timing of our jams, and makes the sound so much fuller. More than 20 of us went to South Africa in the spring as an emergency visit for two months. Many of the group returned with a djembe, after stirring and learning African drum experts spent some time with Johannesburg. I’m not kidding, the djembe became a part of our group, and usually had a single battery in a corner with a guitar. 2. It’s portable. You can take your djembe to anywhere (except underwater). Rarely out of the deal, so you only can go out and start playing. We use it in a park under a tree in a church in a coffee house, the main street, on a beach, in an underground € “there is no way I could do with my piano keyboard, perhaps a guitar .. . but still, is ideal for musicians who wants to take his instrument with him. 3. Easy to learn and learn to play. I started playing the djembe in 2003 when we had our group of students living with us. I started looking my friend Mike and Bryan and Sofia. They were the first in our group who played the djembe. At first I was very nervous to pick up and play like I did not ridicule.’m musical, however, and have operated on a ” € € œair drums? of music for years. So I got a listen to my friends and I were encouraged to pose for a quick lesson. Mike showed me the different tones of the djembe is, and noted some points, then took the guitar and tried to play along. I realized I could play some hits, and while I did not waste time or try to do too fancy that it was good. Eventually, I bought my own drum djembe in Africa South in early 2004 and have not looked back.:) This year, after a lot of us bought a djembe in South Africa, each person can play Half Tijmen decently by the end of our set. There are not many musical instruments, one can say that about (!) 4. Everyone likes to look how a djembe. It is true …. a lot of people who were in my house asking for my djembe. It is a wooden drum djembe I took quite cheap in South Africa in a market, and it is undoubtedly necessary right, but it was a real conversation starter. Many people have wanted to play and I can understand why … almost begged, â € œPlay me (! ) â €?. Lol Of course, not everyone can not go to Africa, so it’s good that there are good online stores like the djembe shop http://www. djembedrumshop. com for a djembe. 5. Sounds well with loads of other types of music. djembe was used in a choral concert (!) It’s funny, my wife sings in the choir and they needed a djembe drum parts to produce a different effect. We have played in sessions with our group home church worship â € “works exellently for it. We played a gig playing Scottish music (jigs and reels, etc.) with the djembe. And of course there are too many traditional African music. I am not an expert on African music, but it is difficult to find a local drum circle in the area where you can join us and play together. I’m sure there are other styles of music that works well with the djembe. I would like to hear their stories, if any. So there you have it, 5 good reasons to get a djembe. I could go on, there are so many things I like about this percussion instrument. The question is, â € which œAre interested in learning the djembe drum? Â €? . If so, pop over to a good selection of djembe drums and discover for yourself (!)
